TSUM VALLEY TREK

OVERVIEWS:
Himalayan Heritage Treks offers one of the most exciting adventures of a lifetime experience. Trekking around remote valleys of Tsum valley. The journey is loaded with picturesque surroundings of Tsum Valley, Manaslu region. Tsum Valley, trekking will be mesmerizing adventure. Walking around high green hills covered in a forest of tall rhododendrons, pines, firs, and juniper trees.
Then reach towards sheer mountain wilderness beyond the massif Manaslu, and Ganesh Himalayas. Starting this long epic adventure to Nepal North Mid-West Himalayas of remote Gorkha districts. Then finally ending at scenic Gorkha at Arughat town, after a great traverse. warm paddy farm areas of Gorkha district, and then heading towards higher hills.
From the village of Jagat entering the Restricted Areas of Tsum Valley and high Manaslu areas. The trail follows towards our first destination to Tsum Valley, heading higher facing views of Manaslu and Ganesh Himal Peaks. On leaving the main trail of the Manaslu Circuit, the route diverts further east entering the wonderland at Tsum Valley. Also known as the “Valley of Happiness”
from an ancient Tibetan script ‘Beyul Kyimolung’. The trail around Tsum Valley takes you to the highest spot at Mu Gompa, located en route to the Tibet border. Situated behind the Northern Face of the massif Ganesh Himal range of snow peaks. Explore the scenic surroundings of high Mu Gompa and an interesting tour of the monastery interior adorned with ancient idols. Includes statues of Lord Buddha and famous Gurus and saints of Tibet with vibrant arts of religious murals. From Mu Gompa adventure leads to a day hike from Chokanparo village to Ganesh Himal base camp. The mountain which is visible from the Kathmandu Valley also, towards the northwest in between Langtang and Manaslu Himal. On completing the first phase of the adventure, the route follows back on the main trail of Manaslu Circuit. Heading onwards to the lovely traditional villages of Namrung and Lo Gaon to reach Sama Gaon. Located in the heart of Manaslu Valley enclosed by giant snow peaks of the majestic Manaslu Himalayas. Enjoying time at mu gumpa exploring its scenic viewpoints and local cultures of age-old heritage.

DETAILED ITINEREARY:
Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu 1,340 m and transfer to hotel.
On arrival at Kathmandu and Nepal International Airport, received by our team of ladies staff and guide. After checking the NST (Nepal Standard Time) which is 5 hours and 45 minutes ahead of GMT. A short drive takes you in the hub of Kathmandu city around Thamel area to your hotels. After checking into your lovely rooms, getting refreshed from the Jet Lag. Join with other members of this long exciting treks around Nepal’s Mid-West Himalayas, at meeting room for briefing. Provided our lady guide and staff or Group Leader, information of the treks, local lodge and foods. Includes wide range of information to make your holiday meaningful and enjoyable. Evening a lovely welcome group dinner in a nice authentic Nepali Restaurants with a cultural program. A good way as introduction to Nepali Cuisines and Cultures to experience.

Day 02: In Kathmandu with optional sightseeing tour and trek preparations.
In Kathmandu free day for sightseeing tour around places of interest, the Kathmandu three cities offers beautiful World Heritage Sites. An enjoyable and exciting sightseeing tour around the landmarks of the country. Blended with both Hindu and Buddhism religions and cultures. Kathmandu Valley three cities is steeped with World Heritage Sites, worth a visit. Rest of the day preparation and purchase necessary items for Tsum, Manaslu, Nar Phu and Tilicho Lake Adventures.

Day 03: Drive to Maccha-Khola 930 m via Arughat-07 hrs.
Adventure to Tsum Valley, Manaslu, Nar Phu and Tilicho Lake treks, starts with a morning drive to Nepal Mid-West. The journey leads on the main Nepal highway past many interesting towns and villages with farms to reach at Arughat. Located around Gorkha district, from here drive follows the Buri-Gandaki River upstream to lower warm areas of paddy fields. Then reaching at Macha Khola for overnight stop. A moderate size village with good, simple lodge, Macha Khola means a Fish Stream.

Day 04: Trek Jagat 1,345 m via Dovan 1,070 m-06 hrs.
From Macha-Khola village, morning walk follows through farm villages around cultivated crop fields. The walk leads to Khola-Besi village at Tatopani, a place with natural hot spring From here walk to Dovan for lunch, afternoon walk starts towards a wide field at Lauri stream. Cross a bridge and then climb to the high ridge, and downhill to Yara Khola. From here an hour climb Jagat village for
overnight stop, a nice farm village with many nice simple lodge with shops and stores.

Day 05: Trek to Lokpa 2,240 m via Philim 1,570 m-06 hrs.
After a pleasant stop at Jagat for overnight, morning walks leads to Salleri, after climbing on a rocky ridge. To reach Sirdibas, the trail follows then to Ghatta Khola as walk heads upstream through a long suspension bridge. To reach a large Gurung farm village in Philim, the walk continues to Ekle Bhatti. From here the trail diverts from Manaslu route towards Tsum Valley, the walks lead to narrow path down. Reaching the Shyar River, then the trail lead forward, to end the day walks reaching at Lokpa village. For first overnight stop around the Tsum Valley areas, in the comfort of a nice simple lodge accommodation.

Day 06: Trek to Chumling 2,386 m-06 hrs.
Enjoying first night on the starting point of Tsum area, morning walk down towards beautiful forest. Then over three sided streams and crossing bridges, with climb on well-paved stone steps. As the walk follows through pines and rhododendrons woods, then descending to Bhatti Ghumlong. The path heads to a steep up to Rupchet, and then reach Chumling after crossing the Shiar Khola on a wooden bridge. A lovely village lined with traditional houses, orchards, clinic and beautiful stone paved lanes. This is Buddhist agriculture, with conical pine needle haystacks among the 4 prayer flags. Overnight at a nice lodge in Chumling.

Day 07: Trek to Chokanparo 3,030m-06 hrs.
An interesting walk to Chokanparo from Chumling as the walk follows on trails, lined with artistic chortens and mani walls. The trail then leads to cross the suspension bridge through rich farming land of maize and potatoes. The houses are of classic Tibetan architectures with barricades of firewood over the rooftop. The walks with superb views of Ganesh Himal, and cross again over a
long suspension bridges to Rainjham for possible lunch stop. From here cross the Serpu Khola and climb for few hours towards the large village of Chokanparo. A settlement with stone houses nestled under a cliffs, where the valley opens with a wide cultivated farms. Growing barley, maize, buckwheat and potato, a herds of Himalayan Thar often seen graze around the high cliffs. Enjoy the views of Himal Chuli. Overnight in a nice homely lodge in the midst of Chokanparo village with time browse the local culture.

Day 08: Trek to Nile 3,360 m-05 hrs.
Morning short visit around the village of great cultural interest, and then start the morning walk. The trail follows through small villages and climb over a ridge with a chortens, and walk past Lama Gaon. As the route leads to the huge courtyard of the Rachen Gompa. Then climb to holy cave (Piren Phu), where saint and tantric of 11 th Century of Tibet meditated for years. At present the cave is restored as a holy site for pilgrimage. From here cross the Shiar Khola, then through hamlets of Phurbe and Pangdun, and coming across a round stupa. The enter the large village of Chhule, as walk leads into an impressive entrance gate (kani). From here walk follows upstream to cross the bridge with short climb to Nile for overnight at a nice lodge.

Day 09: Trek to Mu Gompa 3,700 m-04 hrs.
From Nile, morning hike to Mu Gompa, our first destination around Tsum Valley. Start the walk up towards valley on the west bank, as climb continues. Then finally walk reaches Mu Gompa, located on a high windswept valley similar to South West dry Tibetan plateau. The holy place steeped with rows of chortens with stunning views of surrounding snow peaks. This large monastery of Tsum, with over 100 monks, as well visit interesting Dhephyudoma Gompa, a nunnery. At Mu Gompa enjoy the comfort of simple and
basic lodge accommodation. As well for a simple lunch and dinner, but interesting place to experience around the wild remote country.

Day 10: Trek back to Chokangparo-07 hrs.
The return journey heading down to a valley through Chhule, and downhill to a place Phurbe. The trail leads to the east bank of Shiar Khola, then cross over a flat boulder-covered plains to Rachen Gompa. Time permits visit the ancient Gompa, continue walking and cross a bridge. Then downhill to Chokanparo for overnight in the comfort of a nice cozy lodge.

Day 11: Trek to Gompa Lungdang 3,206 m-06 hrs.
Morning from Chokanparo, the walk start with downhill for few hours to reach Gho with a small shrine. The descend continues on a narrow path through the village and then over a wooden bridge of the Shiar Khola. Then reach Dhumje/ Tumje, a place with Tibetan herbal medicine clinic and a school. The trail climbs behind the clinic with steep up through pines, rhododendrons tree lines and past a mani walls. As climb continues with a steep winding uphill to reach Gumba Lungdang. Stands high on a ridge top with a small place for the nuns amidst beautiful rhododendrons forest. This small Gompa with 40 nuns has an intense and engrossing prayer ritual every night. The mountain views in all directions are amazing, enjoy the overnight at Monastery dormitory room in Gumba Lungdang.

Day 12: Hike to Ganesh Himal Base Camp 3,920 m back to Lungdang-06 hrs.
Start the morning to the massif Ganesh Himal which is at 7,422m/24,350 ft. The main summit of Ganesh Himal, also called as Yangra in Tibetan and local language of Tsum Valley. The trail is vague and rough, walk past the monastery and nun quarters, heading up on a muddy winding tracks. The trail follows up the valley to enter a forest, the across Lauding Khola stream over a small bridge. Then reaching a hut, a Kharka about halfway up, as the walk continues up a birch- lined dry creek bed. Finally, reaching into grassy flat areas, behind the lateral moraine of the Toro Gompa glacier. The climb continues past seasonal yak huts and then on a moraine wall, facing views of the Ganesh Himal. The base camp is right next to field of moraine rocks, taking more than 4 hours to reach the Ganesh Himal Base Camp. After a glorious moment standing in front of towering peaks of Ganesh Himal. Return walk to Gumba Lungdang in time for the evening tea and dinner time.

Day 13: Rest day at Gompa Lungdang.
After a strenuous hike of previous day enjoy a free day to explore the mysticaland exciting surrounding of Gompa Lungdang. Interact with the priest and cheerful nuns, worth a free day in a nice pleasant and scenic environment. 

Day 14: Trek to Rupchet 2,470 m-06 hrs.
Leaving the sleepy areas of Gompa Lungdang with an exciting experience, the return journey descending by the upward trail. To reach Domje and cross the Lauding Khola, and walk to the south bank of Shiar Khola. The climb leads over a deep gorges and shaky cantilever bridges to reach the lovely village Rupchet for overnight halt.
