BEST SEASONS FOR MANI RIMDU FESTIVAL TREKKING:
The right time for Mani Rimdu Festival is from mid-October to first week of November during autumn/fall seasons. The exact dates for the festival as perthe Tibetan Buddhist Lunar Calendar for the auspicious Mani Rimdu Festival.
The autumn season is also best for trekking around the Himalayas including the Everest region. The autumn/fall starts from September to November, most days are fine with crystal clear blue sky. But it gets dark soon due to limited sunshine hours. Morning and late afternoon until nighttime are cold, and chances of light snowfall.

EXPERIENCE RELIGION & CULTURES OF THE KHUMBU SHERPAS:
The higher Himalayan region of Eastern Nepal, around Solu and Khumbu, is inhabited by the Sherpa. Known as the highlanders of Everest and Eastern Himalayas, they are the pioneers as mountain guides. The Sherpa’s are interwoven with strong Buddhist religion and cultures, similar to the Tibetan predecessors.

The first part of the trek leads through several traditional villages adorned with Buddhist monuments. Includes monasteries, rows of prayer walls, and spinning wheels and Stupas known as Chortens. The Sherpa celebrates their own New Year called Gyalbo Losar falls in in winter times of February or early March. 2024 is the year of a Dragon, quite similar to the Tibetan and Chinese New Year. The Sherpa also enjoys other religious festivals such as the birth anniversary of Lord Buddha. Takes place at in end of April or May, as per the Tibetan Buddhism Lunar Calendar. FOODS, ACCOMMODATION AND LODGES FACILTIES AROUND KHUMBU:
Trekkers on the first few days of walks from Lukla will be amazed at the standard of lodges. Providing the facilities in every village from budget, standard to luxury class hotels, resorts, lodges, and inns. Where one can have the options of rooms from attached or common bathrooms and toilets. Most standard lodges serve a comprehensive food menu from breakfast, oats porridge, and cereals to cornflakes with toast/chapattis and pancakes. Includes a choice of egg variation. Lunch and Dinner from Continental, Chinese, Indian, Nepali, and Tibetan main course with a choice of soups. The rooms in lodges and food are the best in the Khumbu areas, en route to Everest Base Camp. After Namche Bazaar to Tengboche the lodge accommodations, provides standard lodge facilities. Including food, but rooms with attached baths and toilets are not available. Due to the harsh weather conditions, the plumbing systems freeze, in the morning and night time.

PHYSICAL FITNESS REQUIREMENT AND INSURANCE:
For this pleasant moderate adventure, participant’s members must be in good physical shape. As well as with sound health for the challenges of climbing on steep uphill’s and long downhills. Including the cold morning and night's freezing temperatures, as well as walking on snow and ice sometimes. The age should be a minimum of 10 to a maximum of 70 years old. For below under 18 must be accompanied by parents and guardians.

All trekkers must have Travel and Medical Insurance in case of unfortunate accidents and illness. Sometimes, the trek may have to be re-routed to other safe destinations. In case of broken trails from avalanches, and rock falls including the bad and unfavorable weather conditions. The daily normal flight from Kathmandu to Lukla can be delayed or canceled sometimes due to bad weather. Where trekkers should be well aware of all the unfortunate situations, if arise. The company will make the best effort for the safety and conveyance of all clients. Some members of the group might get seriously ill, which requires immediate evacuation. Using the fastest transportation for the safety of the sick clients as well as using services of Helicopter, to bring the patient to the nearest hospital. If this condition happens, trekkers have to bear all extra expenses as well as for the accompanying staff. All extra expenditures should be claimed by your insurance company. The spectacular dramatic landscapes from rolling green hills and giant snow-capped mountains. The views of snow peaks follow you throughout the walks from the start to the end of trekking. Mani Rimdu Festival Trekking is a pleasant, moderate-grade adventure, without much problem of catching HAS or High Altitude Sickness. The walk follows gradual ups and downs, as the trek progresses and spending overnights at certain heights. Besides the steep climb in a few sections, the beautiful views of the surrounding peaks make this trek enjoyable. Mani Rimdu Festival is held in various major villages of the Solu-Khumbu district around the Everest region. Like in Salleri south of Everest in Solu areas, as well as in Thame Monastery around the west of Khumbu Valley. At different times of the season, the biggest and most exciting is at Tengboche Monastery. Mani Rimdu Festival Trekking begins with a flight from Kathmandu to Lukla town’s airport. The walk takes you through serval villages, encountering prayer monuments as the climb heads towards the colorful Namche Bazaar. It is a large village, nearly a size of a town, which is a popular stop among trekkers and mountaineers. Visitors will have time to observe the colorful and exciting event of Mani Rimdu. Enjoy the marvelous moments observing the festival from Wang/blessing day to Chan / Masked dance. Performed by the monks and priest and lastly the closing day called Jinsak. Mani Rimdu festival is held for 19 days, but the main event is on the last three days. Villagers from all over Solo-Khumbu and as far from other closer districts come together for the Mani Rimdu celebration. The festival was founded by the 8th Century Guru Rinpoche the great Padmasamba. As well established the Nyingma sect of Tibetan Buddhism, the festival is held to wade the evil spirits. The festival is also concerned with better harvest and goodwill, peace, and serenity for the world. After an enjoyable and exciting time in Tengboche Monastery observing the famous and sacred Mani Rimdu Festival. The walk follows the downhill trail with a few ups to reach Lukla.

For the last overnight halt around the beautiful location of Khumbu and Everest region. The next morning a swift scenic flight brings you to Kathmandu. DETAILED ITINERARY:

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu 1,340 m and transfer to hotel.
On arrival at Kathmandu international airport, received by Himalayan Heritage Trek staff and guide. For short transfer to your hotels in the hub of Kathmandu city around exciting place at Thamel area or close by. After checking into your rooms with refreshment our guides will brief regarding Mani Rimdu Festival trekking. Evening a welcome group dinner in a nice authentic Nepalese restaurant with culture show.

Day 02: In Kathmandu with optional sightseeing tour and trek preparations.
Morning after breakfast, depart for cultural and historical tour around Nepal's best World Heritage Sites. Tour of old Durbar Square (Palace Courtyard),The famous ancient Swyambhunath Stupa, includes places of interest, rest of the day preparations for the treks.

Day 03: Fly to Lukla 2,860 m and trek to Phakding 2,610 m-04 hrs.
As time for morning flight to Lukla, transfer to Kathmandu domestic airport and then board in a small aircraft. Fantastic views of Himalayan peaks with Everest, as the flight heads north east to land at Lukla, Tenzing & Hillary small airport. At Lukla having time for refreshing break, and follow the lead guide to start the first day walk to Phakding. The trail follows downhill along the glacial Dudh-Koshi River, walking with few short ups and down through lovely Sherpa villages. After a pleasant scenic walk, then reaching Phakding Village for overnight stop, in the comfort of a nice lodge.

Day 04: Trek to Namche Bazaar 3,440 m-06 hrs.
Trek today leads to famous Sherpa Namche Bazaar. After a good breakfast, then start the morning walk with short down and ups and crossing exciting bridge. Then with short climb to Monjo village, then to the entrance of Sagarmatha National Park (Sagarmatha for Everest in Nepali). From here short walk down to cross a bridge to reach the last Jorsalle village, before Namche Bazaar. Possible stop for lunch at Jorsalle nice lodge restaurants, afternoon walk on river bed within lovely forest. Lined with dense trees of rhododendrons, pines and firs, as climb leads to cross a high bridge. Then on winding uphill for few hours to reach Namche Bazaar, in the comfort of a good lodge. Facing views of Namche Bazaar with backdrops of Kongde range of peaks.

Day 05: Rest day in Namche Bazaar for acclimatization with short hike.
Enjoy rest day in Namche Bazaar a perfect place with ideal height for acclimatization, before heading towards higher areas. The best short hiking around Namche Bazaar as follows: After breakfast hike up to the Park Headquarters a top ridge a place with interesting museum. Offers grand vista of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, and Nuptse with beautiful Mt. Ama Dablam, Khangtiaga, Tharmasarku. Including Kwangde Himal range of peaks, then visit the museum for information of the Sherpa cultures and history. As well as flora/fauna and of the mountaineering history around Khumbu and Everest. The other hike is climb above Namche Bazaar to Syangboche, and then walk up to Everest View Hotel, the first luxury hotels around Khumbu and Everest region. Listed in the Guinness Book of World Record, as world’s highest hotels at 3,962 m/ 13,000 feet. Offers views of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse with Ama Dablam while you enjoy refreshing hot drinks. Rest of the day explore Namche Bazaar famous for weekly Saturday Market, hence it is called as Namche Bazaar.

Day 06: Trek to Tengboche Monastery 3,867 m-05 hrs.
Morning walk on gradual winding trail with views of Everest and Ama Dablam to entering cool alpine forest. After lunch at Phunki Tenga, a few hour climbs to scenic Tengboche Monastery for overnight stop. A beautiful location, surrounded by green forest with panorama of Mt. Everest. Have time to visit the interesting monastery, a popular spot where every year in the month of October and November great colorful festival 'Mani Rimdu' is held. After the tour of the monastery along with glorious views of snow-capped peaks either stay overnight in Tengboche. Where some trekkers head beyond to with downhill to Deboche for overnight halt. A nice serene area amidst forest and views of Ama Dablam and Everest.

Day 07: Enjoy and observe the festival Mani Rimdu.
Today a free day to observe and to be part in this ancient traditional mask dance where monks clad in ceremonial dress depicting Demons and Gods and the then driving evils with prayers by the monks and high official Lama Priest. On this two days getting up early as possible to catch grand mountain panorama and to get the best available spot to observe Mani Rimdu performance inside the complex of monastery courtyard, witness local Sherpa people in their traditional attire performing religious rites and offering, as well taking part in the Mani Rimdu festival. The Mani Rimdu festival is one of the most important for Sherpa community which is held as per Tibetan Buddhist calendar. Mani Rimdu Festival follows with series of masked dances where monks and priests clad in elaborate masks and costumes dramatize the triumph of Buddhism over Bon (an ancient animistic religion sect of Tibet).

Day 08:  Trek to Monjo 2,880 m via Namche Bazaar - 06 hrs.
From Tengboche after an enjoyable time soaking into colorful festival, morning on easy gradual trail with descend to a river and then short up, and then on nice pleasant path to Namche Bazaar for short refreshing break, after an enjoyable time in the harmony of local Sherpa culture at Namche with grand views. Afternoon downhill to a river to reach Sagarmatha (Everest) National Park entrance and exit point and then short walk to lovely village at Monjo for overnight stop before Lukla.

Day 09: Trek to Lukla and transfer to a lodge-04 hrs.
Last day trek of the adventure, enjoy the pleasant walks to Phakding for short rest. The walk continues on pleasant winding path for few hours with last hour climb to Lukla. Reaching Lukla for lunch and overnight stop, with ample time to explore the town of Lukla. As well as to enjoy the last dinner celebration with fellow members and trekking staff.

Day 10: Fly to Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.
Morning transfer to Lukla’s Tenzing & Hillary airport, for smooth short flight to Kathmandu. Reaching back in the hustle and bustle city life of Kathmandu, after a great adventure and wonderful experience on Mani Rimdu Festival Trekking. Rest of the day at leisure for individual activities and shopping souvenirs or join in for short tour around places of great interest.

Day 11: In Kathmandu free day, for individual activities with options for tours.
A free day in Kathmandu to enjoy relaxing moments and for individual activities and shopping spree. Where one can shop souvenirs of Nepal from handicrafts to jewelers etc. Interested people can opt for another exciting tour of Patan and Bhaktapur cities on request.

Day 12: International departure for homeward bound.
Last day in Kathmandu and Nepal, after an overwhelming adventure and experience around the high hills and valleys of Khumbu and Everest. As time for your international flight, transfer to the airport. Then bid farewell to Nepal, guide and staff; as you enter the air terminal for homeward bound or to next port of call.
