BEST SEASONS FOR GOKYO & EVEREST BASE CAMP VIA CHO-LA PASS TREKKING:
The best time and seasons for this marvelous adventures are Spring andautumn/fall seasons. The spring begins in March and ends in May, a lively time for pleasant walks and scenic views. Most days are fine and clear with enough sunshine hours till late afternoon from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. It can get overcast in the afternoon sometimes, with chances of light rains and snowfalls. Days are much longer with sunlight hours, but cold morning and late afternoon till nighttime. Depending upon altitude and overnight stops around the high Khumbu and Everest regions. Spring is the best time for nature lovers, when wildflowers are in seasonal bloom, especially the rhododendrons of various species. The next best season is autumn/fall, where most days are bright, with sunny days for clear views. Autumn/fall starts from September to November, one of the high seasons in Nepal for trekking. Days are fine with crystal clear blue sky, but it gets dark soon due to limited sunshine hours. Morning and late afternoon until nighttime are cold, and chances of light snowfall.
EXPERIENCE RELIGION & CULTURES OF THE KHUMBU SHERPAS:
The higher Himalayan region of Eastern Nepal, around Solu and Khumbu, is inhabited by the Sherpa. Known as the highlanders of Everest and Eastern Himalayas, they are the pioneers as mountain guides. The Sherpa’s are interwoven with strong Buddhist religion and cultures, similar to the Tibetan predecessors. The first part of the trek on Everest Three High Passes leads through several traditional villages adorned with Buddhist monuments. Includes monasteries, rows of prayer walls, and spinning wheels and Stupas known as Chortens. The Sherpa celebrates their own New Year called Gyalbo Losar falls in in winter times of February or early March. 2024 is the year of a Dragon, quite similar to the Tibetan and Chinese New Year. The Sherpa also enjoys other religious festivals such as the birth anniversary of Lord Buddha. Takes place at in end of April or May, as per the Tibetan Buddhism Lunar Calendar. Including the colorful Mani Rimdu Festival at Tengboche Monastery.
FOODS, ACCOMMODATION AND LODGES FACILTIES AROUND KHUMBU:
Trekkers on the first few days of walks from Lukla will be amazed at the standard of lodges. Providing the facilities in every village from budget, standard to luxury class hotels, resorts, lodges, and inns. Where one can have the options of rooms from attached or common bathrooms and toilets. Most standard lodges serve a comprehensive food menu from breakfast, oats porridge, and cereals to cornflakes with toast/chapattis and pancakes. Includes a choice of egg variation. Lunch and Dinner from Continental, Chinese, Indian, Nepali, and Tibetan main course with a choice of soups. The rooms in lodges and food are the best in the Khumbu areas, en route to Everest Base Camp. After Namche Bazaar to Lobuche and Gorakshep the lodge accommodations with standard and simple lodge facilities. Including food, but rooms with attached baths and toilets are not available. Due to the harsh weather conditions, the plumbing systems freeze, in the morning and night time. The foods are served in a spacious dining room with a fire place to keep the place warm and cozy. At Chukung, Dzongla, and Thagnak including Gorakshep the lodges with minimum facilities with a basic food menu to enjoy. These are temporary seasonal settlements, as well as the high altitude terrains. But enjoyable with local foods like Dal Bhat, Noodles fried or noodle soups, and fried potatoes, etc.
PHYSICAL FITNESS REQUIREMENT AND INSURANCE:
For this tough and adventurous trek, members must be in good physical shape. As well as with sound health for the challenges of climbing on steep uphill’s and long downhills. Including the cold morning and night freezing temperatures, as well as walking on snow and ice sometimes. The age should be a minimum of 16 to a maximum of 70 years old. For below under 18 must be accompanied by parents and guardians. All trekkers must have Travel and Medical Insurance in case of unfortunate accidents and illness. Sometimes, the trek may have to be re-routed to other safe destinations. In case of broken trails from avalanches, and rock falls including the bad and unfavorable weather conditions. The daily normal flight from Kathmandu to Lukla can be delayed or canceled sometimes due to bad weather. Where trekkers should be well aware of all the unfortunate situations, if arise. The company will make the best effort for the safety and conveyance of all clients. Some members of the group might get seriously ill, which requires immediate evacuation. Using the fastest transportation for the safety of the sick clients as well as using services of Helicopter, to bring the patient to the nearest hospital. If this condition happens, trekkers have to bear all extra expenses as well as for the accompanying staff. All extra expenditures should be claimed by your insurance company. Gokyo Valley to Everest Base Camp via Cho-La Pass Trekking leads you from one scenic valley to another exciting area. It is the famous Khumbu region of Mt. Everest. As well as within Sagarmatha National Park is enriched with exotic flora and fauna with the world's highest peaks. The park is on the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites, which makes this adventure more exciting. The first part of the walk leads to Gokyo Valley, which is quite different and unique, to other Khumbu areas. The high country is surrounded by towering giant snow-capped mountains amidst picturesque locations. As well as walking close to the calm glacial lakes of Gokyo scenic valley. It is located beneath Nepal’s largest Ngozumpa Glaciers, and around the Himalayan ranges. At Gokyo climb to the highest ridge of Gokyo-Ri, for a stunning sunrise over a series of snow-capped peaks. Offers views of the world’s four tallest peaks, namely Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse and Mt. Makalu with Mt. Cho-Oyu. Includes grand vista of the Gokyo Valley and its emerald-colored lakes surrounded by rocky cliffs and snow peaks. The adventure continues heading at the end of Gokyo Valley at Thagnak, for the exciting adventurous traverse crossing over Cho-La Pass. A strenuous climb over a moraine of rocks and ice to reach the top of Cho-La. The pass is well hidden and bounded by the high peaks of Cholatse and close views of Lobuche West and East peaks. From the high pass a slow descent towards the eastern side of the Khumbu Valley. As the walk proceeds to join the main route to Everest base camp spending overnight in Lobuche. Then on the high rocky tails to Everest base camp, past the small settlement of Gorakshep. Which is a wide old glacial field, beneath the towering Mt. Pumori and the famous viewpoints of Kalapathar rocky ridge.
The walk from Gorakshep follows to the end of eastern Khumbu over a moraine of ice and glaciers. Then finally stand at the bottom of the world’s highest Mt. Everest at base camp. Enjoy the dramatic scenery of ice, rocky moraines, and glaciers with a close look at the massif Khumbu Ice Fall. The views of Mt. Everest are obstructed by the giant peaks of Lhotse and Nuptse. Nevertheless, it is one of the most stunning places on earth similar to arctic zone landscapes terrains. From the Everest Base Camp, the next adventure takes you on a steep climb to the top of Kalapathar Ridge. It is the most famous viewpoint in all the Himalayas and the closest vista of Mt. Everest. After the most exciting moments and great experience return journey to Lukla taking an alternative route via Pheriche Valley.
