BEST SEASONS FOR MARDI HIMAL & POON HILL, GHOREPANI TREKKING:
For this moderate adventures, the best seasons are spring and autumn/fall, the most favorable times for all adventures around the Himalayas.The spring begins in March and ends in May, a lively time for pleasant walks and scenic views. Most days are fine and clear with enough sunshine hours till late afternoon from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. It can get overcast in the afternoon sometimes, with chances of light rains and snowfalls. Days are much longer with sunlight hours, but cold morning and late afternoon till nighttime. Depending upon altitude and overnight stops around the higher regions. Spring is the best time for nature lovers, when wildflowers are in seasonal bloom, especially the rhododendrons of various species. The next best season is autumn/fall, most days are bright, with sunny days for clear views. Autumn/fall starts from September to November, one of the high seasons in Nepal for trekking. Days are fine with crystal clear blue sky, but it gets dark soon due to limited sunshine hours. Morning and late afternoon until nighttime are cold, with chances of light snowfall. This trek can be enjoyed during winter times also, most days are clear for views and walks. But cold morning, late afternoon and nighttime, can expect snow around Ghorepani and at Mardi Himal.

EXPERIENCE RELIGION & CULTURES OF THE ANNAPURNA HILL VILLAGES:
The higher Himalayan region of Far Mid-West Nepal, around the southern hills of Annapurna Himalayan ranges. Populated by the mountain tribes the Poon, Magar and Gurung people, Magar are the largest ethnic hill tribes of Nepal. The Magar tribe follows both Hindu and Buddhist religions, as well as their own traditional cultures. The Gurung people are the main hill tribes of Annapurna and Lamjung regions, mostly populated around the southern hills of Annapurna Himalayas. The Gurung people are interwoven to Buddhism religion, trekkers can observe the Gurung cultures around Tadapani, Ghandruk and Jhinu Villages.

FOODS, ACCOMMODATION AND LODGES FACILTIES:
Trekkers on the first few days of walks from Thirkhedhunga, on leaving Pokhara. The route leads to sheer mountain wilderness, with few small villages  and settlements. The local village provides simple lodge accommodation with good food. Offers list of food menu, Nepali Dhal Bhat and noodles or home-made breads. The foods from Nepali Dhal Bhat (boiled rice, with seasonal vegetables and Dal a lentil of varieties of smaller beans). Tibetan bread, pancakes, chapatti, momos stuffed meats, or vegetable dumplings include noodles fried or with soup. Serves good breakfast from oats porridge, corn flakes with milk, breads and eggs followed by tea or coffee. Lunch is simple noodles fried with vegetables or eggs, or fried rice followed by hot refreshment. Afternoon tea with snacks and lavish dinner from Nepali, Indian, Chinese or Continental dishes. But at Ghandruk Village, trekkers will be surprised by various standards of lodges and resorts, from budget, and moderate to luxury lodges. Lodges with attached baths and toilets, with a comprehensive food menu from Continental, Chinese, Indian, Tibetan/Sherpa, and Nepali foods. As well as bakery items, some lodges from Namche to Lukla offer Mexican, Italian, Korean, and Japanese foods. En route Mardi Himal, the lodges are simple but neat rooms with good food menu to enjoy along with the views.

PHYSICAL FITNESS REQUIREMENT AND INSURANCE:
For this short treks, all members should be in good physical shape. As well as in sound health, for the climb on steep uphill and long downhill. Including the cold morning and night freezing temperatures as well as walking on snow and ice sometimes. The age should be a minimum of 12 to a maximum of 70 years old. Young people under 18 years old must be accompanied by parents and guardians. All trekkers must have Travel and Medical Insurance in case of unfortunate accidents and illness. Sometimes, the trek may have to be re-routed to other safe destinations. In case of broken trails from rock falls, including the bad and unfavorable weather conditions. Where trekkers should be well aware of all the unfortunate situations that can happen. Some members in the group might get sick, where immediate evacuation is required. Using, the fastest means of transportation, like services of the Helicopter, for bringing the patient to the nearest hospital. If this unfortunate condition happens, trekkers have to bear all extra expenses as well as for the accompanying staff. All extra expenditures should be claimed by the insurance company. For this trek, all should be physically fit, with good exercise. Mardi Himal and Ghorepani, Poon Hill Trekking, is a great wonderful blend of two best scenic viewpoints. Trekkers will have ample time to enjoy the dramatic scenery of rolling green hills and verdant valleys with snow-capped peaks. Mardi Himal and Ghorepani, Poon Hill Trekking, is an enjoyable adventure without the problem of HAS or High Altitude Sickness. The elevation gains slowly and gradually as the treks progress on daily walks. It is an enjoyable walk with the warm traditional hospitality of the local native in every designated destination. Mardi Himal and Ghorepani, Poon Hill Trekking, commences from the beautiful and scenic city of Pokhara. It is a famous and renowned tourist destination in Nepal and probably around the Himalayas. The city of natural wonders with beautiful scenery of mountains, the snow peak which reflects on the calm lakes. Pokhara is also the starting and ending point of all adventures around the Annapurna Himalayas. From Pokhara, the first part of the journey leads to moderate walks towards the southern high hills of the Annapurna Himalayas. The climb uphill leads to Ghorepani and Poon Hill for stunning sunrise views, along with the spectacular panorama of Mid-West Himalayan peaks. The views of the world’s four highest peaks include Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, and Annapurna Himal, the majestic Machhapuchare Himal. On completing the first phase of the adventure, the trail follows east towards Mardi Himal. The walk leads through lovely mountain villages and into dense woods of rhododendrons and pine trees. The Ghorepani Poon Hill and Mardi Himal regions are bounded by Modi Glacial River. It is close to Annapurna Sanctuary and Mardi Himal high ridges. The Mardi Himal region is also called the Other Sanctuary, as the name given by the earlier explorers and pioneers. The walk to Mardi Himal takes you down and up past the lovely Landruk Village towards Mardi Himal. The walk follows along the high ridges to High Camp, then towards the Mardi Viewpoint, which is the final destination of the adventure. Mardi Himal is the highest point of the treks and offers breathtaking views of the Annapurna Himalayan range of peaks. The Mardi viewpoint is close and in front of Mardi Himal and towering Machhapuchare Himal, the famous Fish Tail Peak. After a glorious panorama of the unparalleled snow-capped peaks, the adventure then comes to an end. The return journey leads to an alternative route downhill to a lower warm farm village at Siding. Then, the walk leads with a short drive back to scenic Pokhara City. At Pokhara, our marvelous adventure Mardi Himal and Ghorepani, Poon Hill Trekking concludes.

Outline Itinerary:
Day 01: From Pokhara 860 m (30 mins by air), drive to Thirkhedhunga 1,425 m and trek to Ulleri 2,050 m. 3 hours ride, and 2 hours walks.
Day 02: Trek to Ghorepani village 2,885 m-04 hrs.

Detailed Itinerary:

Day 01: From Pokhara 860 m (30 mins by air), drive to Thirkhedhunga 1,425 m and trek to Ulleri 2,050 m. 3 hours ride, and 2 hours walks.
Morning from Pokhara hotel, after a good breakfast an exciting drive of few hours takes you beyond Pokhara Valley. The drive follows on the Mid-West Highway on winding ups and down with superb views of Annapurna Himalayan peaks. The drive then diverts from the main highway towards rough country road, past Nayapul Town and nice Bhirethati Village. The drive continues uphill reaching the terraced farm areas and villages of Hille and Thirkhedhunga. A place with beautiful waterfalls, from here start the walk with steep climb up to Ulleri. A large spread out village with views of Annapurna snow peaks, at Ulleri transfer to a nice lodge for overnight. After an exciting on first day of trekking towards the high hills of Annapurna Himalayas.

Day 02: Trek to Ghorepani village 2,885 m-04 hrs.
Enjoy the short day trek to Ghorepani village, the main highlight destinations of the adventure. Morning from Ulleri a short climb to a small settlement of Bhanthati, as the walk follows with slow winding ups. A lovely and pleasant trail to follow through dense enchanting forest of rhododendrons and pines trees. After few hours of good walk with some short steep climb reaching Ghorepani Village for lunch and overnight stop. This will be the highest point for overnight. halt, before the climb to Poon Hill. Ghorepani located at the base of Poon Hill amidst forest of rhododendrons trees facing views of Dhaulagiri Himalayas.

Day 03: Morning hike to Poon Hill and trek to Tadapani 2,640 m-06 hrs.
Rising early, before breakfast start the morning climb for an hour or more to Poon Hill. The main highlight of the journey, from the top of Poon Hill enjoy the glorious views of the stunning sunrise. Includes superb 180° panorama of the Mid-Himalayan mountain ranges, enjoy looking over world’s three tallest peaks. From Dhaulagiri, Annapurna to Manaslu Himal with an array of snow peaks as far towards west and eastern horizon. After the glorious morning spectacular views of sunrise and snow-mountains, downhill to Ghorepani for breakfast. Leaving Ghorepani, with climb to the hill top of Deurali, another opportunity to enjoy the panorama of Himalayan ranges. From the top of Deurali, down to Bhanthati for lunch, a small settlement located on a gorge. After lunch a short descent to a stream and climb to Tadapani for overnight halt. Tadapani, a temporary settlement with several nice simple lodges with fantastic views of Annapurna South. Includes Huin Chuli and Machhapuchare Himal as far as Annapurna IV and II.

Day 04: Trek to Jhinu-Danda a place with hot spring 1,700 m-05 hrs.
From Tadapani, a pleasant walk downhill through dense forest to cross a bridge above Kimrong Khola/stream. Then climb starts for an hour or more to the top en route Chomrong and Jhinu Villages. The walk follows on a pleasant path on paved stone trail reaching to a high ridge. Where the route of Chomrong village and Annapurna Base Camp with Jhinu splits. Our route heads down south to reach Jhinu, a nice small village with natural hot spring nearby. Arriving Jhinu for overnight halt, rest of the afternoon enjoy a dip in the hot pools. Situated close to the bank of Modi River, about half hour walk downhill from the lodge at Jhinu.

Day 05: Trek to Deurali 2,040 m via Landruk and Tolka Villages -06 hrs.
After a fresh morning breakfast, walk heads down to New Bridge to cross over a long suspension bridge. Above Modi River, a pleasant walk around farm areas with climb to the large village at Landruk. Facing grand views of Annapurna South and Huin Chuli peaks. From Landruk village on winding pleasant path with few short climb to Tolka a nice village. Possible lunch stop at Tolka, before the last hour climb to Deurali, afternoon a short easy walk to Bheda Kharka. From this small village climb for an hour to Deurali for overnight stop, offers grand views of Dhaulagiri and Annapurna Himalayas.

Day 06: Trek to Forest camp 2,520 m-05 hrs.
From Deurali enjoying the morning glorious views and scenery of beautiful landscapes of rolling green hills. Includes giant snow-capped peaks of Dhaulagiri and Annapurna Himalayas. After breakfast, leaving the main trail from Deurali towards sheer mountain wilderness. The trail follows through dense vegetation and tall tree lines of oaks, pines, fir and rhododendrons. Finally, the day ends reaching an open area amidst a forest surrounding at Forest Camp for overnight. Day 07: Trek to Badal Danda Camp 3,345 m via Low Camp 2,970 m - 06 hrs. Today’s walk is quite long to Badal Danda for overnight halt, leaving Forest Camp to follow a steep climb. As walk leads for some hours through lovely woods facing views surrounding dramatic landscapes terrains. Includes grand look of the
Annapurna Himalayas, the air gets cooler as altitude rises slowly, every hour and then. After a long hours of day walk reaches a small and delightful settlement at Badal Danda for overnight stop. Badal means clouds, as this area gets foggy and misty with low clouds, hence the name Badal. Transfer into a nice simple lodge accommodation for afternoon tea and dinner in large warm dining room.

Day 08: Trek to High Camp 3,700 m-03 hrs.
After a long day walk of previous day, this morning a short walk of few hours, but taking much time. Due to gain in elevation, as the walk follows on a high ridge, leaving the dense forest behind. Where few short vegetation of alpine bush exists, as climb continues to reach High Camp for lunch and overnight stop. This will be highest point for overnight halt, after visiting the Mardi Viewpoint next early morning. 

Day 09: Hike to Mardi Himal View Point 4,500 m and trek to Badal Camp.
Rising early at the break of dawn, having breakfast and carrying packed lunch for the long day hike. The start the morning following the high trail on scenic ridge to Mardi Himal Viewpoint. On the highest point of the adventures, the walk can be quite strenuous, but heeding slowly and taking short breaks. Makes the morning walk enjoyable along with the surrounding awesome views of rolling green hills down below. The walk finally reaches the highlight of the journey at Mardi Viewpoint, in front of staggering Mt. Machhapuchare. Famously called the Fish-Tail dominates the surrounding with black rocky peak of Mardi Himal beneath the Fish-Tail Mountain. Enjoy the panoramic views of the Annapurna Himalayan range of jagged snow peaks. After a wonderful experience return
journey downhill to High Camp for short rest. Then continue further down to Badal Danda Camp for last overnight around the high ridges of Mardi Himal.

Day 10: Trek to Siding village 1,750 m-06 hrs.
Another fascinating and long stretch walks, as well the last day of trekking, follow the path back into tree lines. Reaching near Low Camp a small settlement for short refreshing break. Continue descend on an alternative route to end the walks heading long downhill to Siding farm village. After a great tough walk of the day, then check into a nice small lodge for overnight stop.

Day 11:  Short last day walk and drive to Pokhara 860 m- 03 hrs.
After an enjoyable overnight at Siding farm village, after breakfast a short walk to a car parking lot. Then board in a vehicles either in jeep, four wheels drive or similar as drive follows the Mardi River. The drive then leads through Mardipul to reach the main highway. From here with smooth drive to Pokhara, on arrival transfer to respective hotels by the Phewa Lakeside. Rest of the day relax or enjoy individual activities. Pokhara is famous for adventure sports, like Paragliding, Zip-Line, and Bungee or just relax and marvel the views of Annapurna Himalayas.
