BEST SEASONS FOR NORTH KANCHENJUNGA BASE CAMP TREKKING:
The best time are spring and autumn/fall seasons for all treks and adventures around the Nepal Himalayas. The spring season starts from March till May, most days are fine and clear with longer sunshine hours until the late afternoon from 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. But get overcast during the afternoon sometimes, and chances of light snowfalls.

But the foods and lodges are simple with basic facilities, offers limited foods menu. From simple breakfast, lunch, dinner or main courses. Including side snacks with hot and cold refreshment drinks, served in a nice and cozy dining room, with a fireplace. In Nepal, the most favorite and popular national food and meal is Nepali Dal Bhat, boiled or steamed rice. Served with mild curry of seasonal vegetables, includes Dal, a lentil bean soup with pickles, and hot sauce as options. Breakfast from oats porridge, and cereals to cornflakes with toast/ chapattis, and pancakes includes a choice of egg variation. All lodges have electricity to light the large dining room powered by local hydro or solar power. For charging electronic items, at an extra cost per hour and for each gadget. PHYSICAL FITNESS REQUIREMENT AND INSURANCE:
For Kanchenjunga North Base Camp Treks, all members should be physically fit and in a sound health. For a person with a medical history and special dietary. The limit of 16 to a maximum of 70 years old. For minimum age of under 18 must be accompanied by parents or guardians, as well for elderly persons. DETAILED ITINERARY:
Day 01: Fly Kathmandu to Bhadrapur drive to Ganesh Chowk
approx.1, 440 m -07-8 hour’s flight and drives. Morning after breakfast get ready for short transfer to Kathmandu domestic airport, a short scenic flight of 45 minutes. During air, enjoy the panorama of Himalayan range of peaks with Everest, Mt. Lhotse and Mt. Makalu with  Mt. Kanchenjunga. Landing at Bhadrapur Airport, our guide, trekking staff receives you for an exciting drive to Ilam. A beautiful hill village and towns with vast Tea Gardens. The drive leads through lovely scenery to Ganesh Chowk for overnight stop, around Ilam district. Transfer to a simple lodge around the lovely cooler hills of Ilam district.

Day 02: Drive to Suketar 2,440 m. and walk en route Sinuwa 980 m-06 hrs.
After a pleasant overnight stop, start the day as early as possible to cover a long drive. As well as the first day of trekking heading towards Taplejung main towns at Suketar, and further to Rani Pul. A bridge over Tama Koshi River, the trail follows through farm villages to reach near Mitlung. Then the route leads on pleasant winding path with few straight up and down into forested areas of rhododendron and pines trees; where climb leads to a high hill facing scenic views of Mt. Kanchenjunga and Kabru peaks, as walk continues with descend to Tamur River encountering short ups and down-hill to Sinuwa village for overnight stop.

ay 03: Trek to Tapethok 1,380 m - 05 hrs.
From Sinuwa descend towards Tawa village to cross several smaller fresh streams reaching into spread out farm villages to reach at Chirwa, a nice village of mix tribes dominated mostly by Rai (Kirat tribe) some Magar, Tamang and Hindu Chettries, Brahmins with Dalits people with time to explore this nice village. Enjoying stops at Chirwa, morning walk heading past several neat smaller farm villages to reach a river bank of mix country where you can witness cultivation of Cardamom fields in the dark shade of dense tree line. From here walk higher up over farm fields with short descend to overnight camp at Tapethok a lovely farm village close to Lelep, here air gets much cooler with dramatic change of culture of more Tibetan Buddhist religions.

Day 04: Trek to Sekathum 1,575 m - 05 hrs.
After Tapethok within interesting farm villages as walk leads past many scattered farm villages with paddy fields and terraces to enter a patch of cool forest with short ups facing views of distant peaks and then reaching a nice agriculture farm village at Sekathum where overnight camp is pitched near the village back yard.

Day 05: Trek to Amjilassa 2,310 m - 05 hrs.
Enjoying pleasant overnight at Sekathum, morning walk heading past several neat smaller farm villages to reach a river bank of mix country where you can witness cultivation of cardamom fields in the dark shade of dense tree line. Journey continues to reach higher gaining more elevation heading past farm fields and villages facing views of distant peaks with rolling green hills as walk leads into a valley filled with nice cool woodland then reaching a high village at Amjilassa for overnight stop.

Day 06: Trek to Gyabla 2,730 m - 05 hrs.
Morning walk continues along higher side as altitude gain slowly leading towards much cooler area as paddy farms area stops, then walk gets closer to mountainous around high hill areas encountering several scattered summer pastures and grazing areas to reach at Gyabla or Kyapra for overnight stop within a small cattle herders and farm village, mostly populated by Tibetan like mountain tribes with Sherpa and Bhotia’s people of Buddhist religion and culture.

Day 07: Trek to Ghunsa 3,595 m - 04 hrs.
Morning begins with gentle walk on down-hill as climb starts for an hour within forest of pines-oaks and rhododendron trees as walk reaches a nice flat area on reaching Ghunsa River, from here on pleasant walk to Ghunsa village for overnight stop, a nice and interesting village populated by the Bhotia’s and Sherpa tribes of Tibetan origin with houses built with stones includes neat small farm.

Day 08: Trek to Khambachen 4,000 m-06 hrs.
Walk from Ghunsa towards the last destination the Kanchenjunga North Base Camp at Pang-Pema. The trail leads with gradual uphill around Yaks herder temporary camps. Then enter a small forest, and climb to Rambuk Kharka, around Yak grazing field. From here over a glacial landslide with views of Khumbukarna and Jannu Himal. The walk then leads above the tree lines to enter dry and arid high country reaching at Khambachen for overnight. A small settlement with close views of Sharphu peak 7,070 m and Mt. Jannu with Wedge Peaks.

Day 09: Trek to Lhonak 4,780 m-06 hrs.
Morning walk from Khambachen, the route follows high above the river and then downhill to the river. The climb continues heading towards rocks and boulders to enter the terminal of Kanchenjunga glacier. As walk leads past Ramtang Kharka, a Yak herders summer camp. Then slowly walk across Kanchenjunga glacier to reach Lhonak for overnight stops. Overnight in a small hut, serves a lodge with close views of Mera, Nepal Peak and Wedge Peak.

Day 10: At Lhonak hike to Pang Pema 5,150m/16, 896 ft.
Kanchenjunga North Base Camp-07 hours both ways. Enjoy the day hike of the adventure, heading towards our last highlights at Pang Pema the Kanchenjunga North Base Camp. On the highest point of the adventure. The walk leads with gradual climb above a river facing views of Kirat Chuli, Nepal Peak, Taple Shikhar, and Giva Gela Chuli. The first section leads to gentle up and then climb through boulders on a rocky path. The trail follows a grassy slopes and then reaching glacial area on reaching Kanchenjunga North Base Camp. Enjoy the scenery of giant peaks and massive glaciers. Chances of spotting some wildlife like herd of blue sheep and mountain goats. After an enjoyable moment head back to Lhonak for last overnight stop around the higher areas of Kanchenjunga.

Day 11: Trek to Ghunsa 3,480 m-08 hrs.
Enjoy the long day walk from Lhonak to Ghunsa, after achieving our both the highlights. The trail follows on the same exciting trail past Khambachen to reach Ghunsa for overnight halt. After a long and interesting day of trekking check into a nice lodge and for refreshing hot drinks and dinner.

Day 12: Trek to Gyabla and further to Thangam 2,630 m-06 hrs.
From Ghunsa, return journey on alternative route, the walk starts with views of snow peaks. As the walk heads further down losing more heights every hour of trekking then reach Gyabla Phedi. The walk continues a little further to Thangam a small settlement for overnight stop.

Day 13: Trek to Sekathum 1,640 m. 6-7 hrs.
The walk from Thangam heading towards lower warm areas with many farm villages. Morning starts heading downhill and on winding path with few short ups to reach Sekathum for overnight stops. Situated near to another village of Japantar, enjoy the comfort of a nice and simple lodge accommodation.

Day 14: To Ranipul, 10 mins walk, drive to Kanyam Tea Garden 6-7 hours.
After a long day walks, enjoy the last short trek of the adventure, towards lower mid-hill and heaving farmed villages. The trail follows to number of nice villages, then reaching Ranipul, for exciting drive to Suketar near Taplejung town. Reaching the headquarters town of Taplejung district and check into a nice lodge. Rest of the afternoon, explore and witness the local cultures of Eastern Nepal. Morning after completing the adventurous trek, from Suketar, board on a 4WD Jeep or similar four-wheel drive. An exciting drive on a hilly winding road to Kanyam, for last overnight on the hills of Kanchenjunga. Located near to Ilam Bazaar, a famous town for Tea products and large fields of Tea Gardens.

Day 15: Drive to Bhadrapur-03 hours and fly to Kathmandu, 45 mins.
Enjoy breakfast then leaving the hills of Eastern Himalayas and scenic Ilam Tea- Gardens. Morning a scenic drive towards lower warm area of Terai, then the drive ends on reaching Bhadrapur Town airport. As time for the flight to Kathmandu, board on a big aircraft for swift short flight to Kathmandu. On arrival in Kathmandu, a short transfer to the hotel, rest of the day at leisure, for individual activities and shopping souvenirs.

01: When is the best time for Kanchenjunga North Base Camp Trek? 
The best time for Kanchenjunga Circuit Trek are spring from March to May, and autumn / fall begins from September to early November. These are the best times for pleasant walks and views, but could get snow-fall sometimes. Much colder morning and evening, night time, but with clear sunny most of the days.

02: How are the route and trails to North Kanchenjunga Base Camp? 
Walking ups and down with few flat section, walk into lovely woods of rhododendron and pines. The trek leads to several nice villages adorned with. ancient culture and heritage of Buddhism. Encountering friendly and cheerful villagers, cold morning and night time but with sunny clear days for excellent views of snow-capped peaks. Most village trail is well defined, but off the settlement and villages the path are narrow, walking on cattle herder trails. Some section on the trek can be rough with rocky ground, but enjoyable overlooking grand views of the snow peaks.

Accommodation in local lodges are simple but nice, clean and cozy but smaller rooms. The foods are nice and simple. The main meals are Nepali Dal Bhat (boiled rice and lentil soup with seasonal vegetable and home-made hot sauce or mild pickle. As well as noodles, and home-made breads including pancakes from local barley or miller flour. Trekkers can enjoy refreshing hot drinks tea, coffee and drinking or hot chocolate, where available. As well as local Tibetan meals and snacks around Ghunsa and Khambachen.

04: Is there hot showers and electricity to charge our electronic items? 
Every village have hydroelectricity power and some smaller settlements have solar power. But for some days on leaving the villages there will be no electricity or facilities for hot showers.

05: What precaution for Altitude sickness on this trek?
For altitude mountain sickness or AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness), the best is proper acclimatization with good rest. Drinking enough fluids like water, warm soup, and light green tea or hot lemon. Walking high and sleeping low is best way acclimatization. Trekkers with AMS symptoms should descend to a lower level with accompanying guides, staff, and close friends or relatives. In a very severe situation immediate rescue medical evacuation taking Helicopter service back to Kathmandu or the nearest city with good hospitals. But on this trek hardly people get altitude sickness as elevation gains slow and gradually and staying overnights at certain heights and walking slow will prevent you from catching altitude sickness.
